From the Pastor
Summertime … a time for dreaming of possibilities.
George asked, “Louise, do you want to go upstairs and see what’s there?
“Sure.”
As she climbed the stairs and turned the corner to look into the gym at St. Paul’s UMC,
“This is really fun,” she said.
“But, you haven’t seen the rest! He replied.
They passed the kitchen, remark-ing it looked like nobody had used it for a long time. She went inside “the Pit” and climbed onto the top bench.
“Wow!” You could see sparkling excitement in her eyes.
“But look at this!” he enticed to continue exploring the hidden treasures.
He led her into the video game room where she dashed excitedly from place to place. They both wondered how to make the arcade game work. Then they moved by the room with the table games and headed straight to the theater.
“Can we have a movie night here?”
From the fresh eyes of children came the wonder of possibilities. Of adventure! They saw upstairs at St. Paul’s not so much as a place in dire need of a facelift, but as a place of possibilities, of fun times to be had.
I recall my first glace upstairs at St. Paul’s. It was like an enchanted, but unused gem, waiting to be re-stored. It still is. A year ago, we talked of turning the gym into pickleball courts. That is one possibility.
Maybe the first step is to deep clean and freshen it up. Then to begin turning it into a place to gather and play together.
Can this be more than just a dream? Can you put yourself inside the dream and transform it into a reali-ty? Who knows… It has all sorts of possibilities for St. Paul’s being a place for the community to gather.
Sincerely, Pastor Donna
