THE RIDE
Over the last couple of months, I have found myself on an emotional rollercoaster. Joy and excitement rise up in my heart as I hear stories of Christ’s transformation in the lives of people, as well as in reports of believers doing amazing ministry in their local contexts. On the other hand, my emotional state takes a downward trajectory as I experience church fractures, Jesus’ name being attached to what does not look like Christ, as well as, daily accounts of the Ukrainian war, mass shootings, injustice, spiritual lostness, and environmental destruction.
Through all the ups and downs of life, scripture reminds us of the reality that God and God’s mission remain the same. We continually see that God is bigger than anything we or those around us will encounter in this life. This reality allows for the passing off of challenges to God, while inviting the Holy Spirit to empower us to live out and be faithful to God’s call through Christ to bring hope and healing. What Good News to be reminded that one day God will restore and make all right. This realization allows for the ability to release feelings of needing to remain in control and instead, surrender all to the reality that Christ has got whatever is being encountered. Today no matter what you are facing, hold fast to Jesus and allow him to fill you with his peace, love, and assurance, while being reminded of His promise to always be with you no matter where life’s ride takes you.
